Future Prems Program 2017
The highly-regarded Joondalup Brothers elite player development program, known as the Future Prems Program(FPP) is designed to develop our youth (U14 to U17) and Colts players and to provide a clear player path way to our Premier Grade. The program focuses on the player experience and development of core rugby skills, position specific, conditioning and game sense amongst others. Program also includes a taste of the expectations coupled with the discipline that is required to be a premier grade player. Players are selected via a talent identification process with input from our respective junior club coaches. Under the mentorship and guidance from Premier Grade Head Coach Dave Wells, the program is headed by Antonio Gerber and assisted by in field coaches Phil Bedworth and Denis Skillen The program was manager by Mostyn Jones. Dave was one of the original founders of our very successful club academy which evolved into the FPP to provide junior talented players with a pathway into Premier Grade rugby.
After identifying players during the course of the season these players are invited to attend a couple of testing session where they will be assessed and then selected for the program. The program ran for 8 weeks and upon completion the players will be provided with a comprehensive review of their achievement, their strengths and also the areas which requires further development. The 2017 FPP program also had Premier grade assistant coach Alan Pike as well as the current Premier Grade captain Johan Louw and Western Force back rower Brynard Stander (also a Brother) adding and providing their valuable experience and knowledge. As a key strategic initiative of our club the FPP provides the continued growth of our club and build on our commitment to ensure our young players will fulfil their potential to represent the Brothers at the highest level possible. Additionally, the program also provides development opportunities for our aspiring coaches who are supported by our experienced senior coaches.
