A group of over 250 passionate Brothers juniors spent the last week of the school holidays 10th and 11th October, doing battle at the fourth annual Albany 7s junior rugby carnival hosted by Albany Junior Rugby Club.
The Brothers were well represented with 61 players from teams in the U8, U9 , U10 and U12 Age groups. A well drilled U8s group dominated the 7s style and took out top spot in the in the Grand final bringing home the Cup for the brothers trophy cabinet. The U9s fought hard against new opposition and their love of rugby saw them into the semi- finals and were only narrowly beaten in the second half to end their tournament dreams.
The U10 juniors flew the Brothers flag high by entering 3 teams, all making finals on the Sunday after gruelling pool matches on the Saturday. The Brothers Warriors were defeated in the grand final by just 1 try to a vintage Palmyra team. The Brothers Gladiators being a player down on both days competed with only 8 players and were battered and bruised but rallied in the end to finish 4 overall. The Brothers Raptors were dominant in the Shield final and outclassed a tough Kalamunda team to join the U8s in bringing home more silverware for the trophy cabinet. With a smaller pool in the U12 age group the Brothers had their work cut out as games were fast and fierce. The players played with heart and courage but were unlucky to get knocked out in the finals stages of the tournament.
A great weekend of rugby was had by all and a big thank you to all our generous sponsors, coaches, managers , supporters and players for wearing the Brothers colours with pride.
