Celebrating Exceptional Service: Life Membership Awards
Life Members David Wells and Liam Smith were joined by Foundation Life Member Russell Peart and Chairman—and fellow Life Member—Anthony Wall in proudly conferring Life Membership upon two of Joondalup Brothers Rugby Union Football Club’s most distinguished contributors. Together, they honoured the legacy and impact of these individuals whose dedication has shaped the heart of our club.
Life Membership represents the highest accolade a club member can receive. It is awarded periodically to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service over a sustained period of at least ten years. Nominees are assessed across four key areas of contribution:
Playing
Coaching and Managing
Administration (including roles within the Club, RWA, RA, or IRB)
General Contribution (such as advocacy, fundraising, benefaction, or other significant efforts deemed relevant by the Club Executive or Life Membership Committee)
To be eligible, a nominee must have made an exceptional impact in at least one of these areas, and a meaningful contribution in at least two of the remaining three—or have provided a level of service deemed appropriate by the Committee’s discretion.
This year, in recognition of extraordinary commitment and influence, the Life Membership Committee has taken the rare step of awarding Life Membership to two individuals who have met—and exceeded—these rigorous standards for over a decade.
It is with great pride that we commend Mostyn Jones and Emma Jones as recipients of Joondalup Brothers’ highest honour. Their unwavering dedication, high-impact service, and enduring leadership over the past fifteen years have left an indelible mark on our club and community.
7 - Mostyn Jones
Mostyn joined Brothers Rugby Club in 2009 and has held a wide range of roles since then at both team and club level. These include multiple team manager positions, Academy Manager, Junior President, Junior Vice President, Senior Vice President, and currently Senior President.
He is a consistent contributor on match days, assisting with set-up and pack-down, leading post-event clean-ups, running the scoreboard, and supporting player registrations. His reliability and willingness to help have been central to the smooth running of many club activities.
Mostyn has also served for many years on the Executive Committee, contributing to the governance and direction of the club. His efforts have been recognised previously through the award of the Patrons Cup.
In recognition of his long service, commitment, and many roles across the club, Brothers Rugby Club is pleased to award Mostyn Life Membership.
8 - Emma Jones
Emma has been a valued and dedicated member of Brothers Rugby Club since joining in 2009. From the outset, she has been an active contributor to the life of the club, showing outstanding commitment, creativity, and leadership.
Emma’s contribution to the club’s social life has been nothing short of exceptional. For well over a decade, she has taken responsibility for organising and leading the club’s social events, lifting them to a standard unmatched by any other club in the region. Her ability to bring people together, create a welcoming environment, and build a strong sense of community has been central to the club’s culture and ongoing success.
Alongside her social leadership, Emma has served for many years on the Executive Committee, where she has played a key role in shaping the direction and operations of the club. She has also taken full responsibility for managing and promoting the club’s merchandise. Through her creativity, hard work, and commercial focus, merchandise sales have consistently contributed significant funds each year, strengthening the club’s financial sustainability.
Emma’s contribution has also been recognised through her receipt of the Patrons Cup, awarded for outstanding service and commitment to the club. This accolade reflects not only her tireless effort but also the deep respect in which she is held by her peers.
Whether through her leadership, fundraising efforts, or the countless hours of volunteer work she has contributed behind the scenes, Emma has been a cornerstone of Brothers Rugby Club for more than 15 years. Her dedication embodies the values of the club and the spirit of rugby itself.
For these reasons, and in recognition of her extraordinary service, commitment, and lasting impact on the club, we are proud to award Emma Life Membership of Joondalup Brothers Rugby Club
