Juniors
Junior Rugby
Welcome to Joondalup Brothers Rugby Union Football Club. The “Brothers” is a family orientated club that provides kids the opportunity to play rugby. With teams from U6’s to U18’s Joondalup Brothers is without doubt one of WA’s largest clubs.
Our junior division has long been the envy of many clubs as we consistently experience steady growth year after year. This growth has seen us become the largest junior rugby division in WA fielding upwards of 28 teams with over 400 junior players.
Our volunteer base is the backbone of our success with over 54 coaches and managers looking after the development and management of the playing group week in and week out. We are a club that’s committed to the continued development of our coaches, players, and match officials.
Our coaches are required to undertake coach development programs and workshops, either in-house or those run by our governing body Rugby WA. Add to this the well-structured and hard-working committee and we, as a club, are ensured that future successes both on and off the field are guaranteed.
Off Field – Located on the northern beaches of Western Australia, Joondalup has a diverse culture and membership base. We are truly a multicultural club that offers a warm welcome to all players, families, and friends irrespective of origin or abilities. As a club we encourage our juniors to come along and support our senior teams, often having them lead our seniors out onto the field and also undertaking ball boy duties as well. Our vision is to create an environment where our juniors look up to and aspire to play seniors and wear the Blue & White butchers stripes of the Brothers”. We understand that to do this we need to provide a playing pathway for them to develop and strive to play at the highest level possible.
Club Academy (Future Prems Program)
Concept & Vision – Joondalup Brothers Future Prems Programme is part of the club’s vision to develop our juniors within the U12 to Colts U21 groups and provide a very clear pathway into our Premier Teams. With a senior & junior academy, this vision will enable the club to become self-sufficient, create a depth of playing talent, and alleviate the need for recruiting from outside the area moving forward. It is this very vision that will assist the club to retain its high-level juniors along with attracting others and will also enable us to strategically implement an efficient succession plan based on player depth in positions.
Core Skill & Game-Based Content – The club’s vision through the future Prems Programme is to align the playing styles of our older junior age groups with that of our senior teams. In doing so as players move up in age groups they will be well-equipped when making the transition into the senior teams in the years ahead. The Clubs Senior coaches, under the direction of the club’s Director of Rugby, work together to formulate the defensive structures and attacking styles. This game-based frame work will be consistent throughout the seniors through to the U13s. Players also undertake rigorous training with core skills along with strength & conditioning.
Off-Field Skills – The player’s development includes and a strong emphasis on the education process to assist them to best preparing themselves off the field. Workshops in Sports Psychology, Diet & Nutrition along with Injury management and prevention are provided as part of the program.
Environment – It is expected that ALL coaches contribute to creating a positive, safe and fun environment enabling the players to develop. Coaches will actively encourage and support the promotion of players into the higher age group when required. Remember that the players represent the club, and are not “the coach’s players”. Players will need to be suitably dispensated prior to elevation.
